On behalf of the American Council on Education (ACE), we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Gilbert A. Valverde, Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Policy & Leadership at the University at Albany, on his distinguished role as an invited presenter at the regional forum, Built to Last: What Works in Teaching Reading and Math.
Co-hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic, this high-level forum brought together education leaders and policy experts from 18 member countries to address critical, evidence-based approaches to student learning across Latin America and the Caribbean.
Dr. Valverde’s vital contributions to dialogue on educational quality, the interpretation of large-scale assessment data, and context-sensitive policymaking exemplify the caliber of scholarship needed to drive meaningful educational progress. We also celebrate his leadership with the PROGRESA initiative and commend his forward-looking collaborative efforts with regional governments and international partners to ensure that overlooked systems are centered in global comparative research.
Dr. Valverde’s work is a testament to the transformative impact of higher education faculty in bridging rigorous research with impactful public policy. We commend Dr. Valverde on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to the continued global influence of his research.
