The American Center of Education (ACE) extends its warmest congratulations to Dr. Havidán Rodríguez, President of the University at Albany (UAlbany), on his appointment as Chair of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), effective January 1, 2027.

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education is a globally recognized institutional accreditor recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Overseeing accreditation and quality assurance for more than 500 colleges and universities across the United States and worldwide, MSCHE sets the benchmark for educational rigor, sustainable governance, and continuous improvement.

Dr. Rodríguez has been an active leader with the Commission since 2020, serving on its Executive Committee since 2022 and most recently holding the post of Vice Chair. In his upcoming role as Chair, Dr. Rodríguez will guide MSCHE’s strategic vision alongside fellow commissioners, championing rigorous peer-review standards and fostering environments where academic innovation flourishes.

Upon his appointment, Dr. Rodríguez emphasized the collective mission of the Commission:
