An American higher education institution granting US degrees / American Degrees is usually accredited by one of the following six American regional accrediting associations: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Your pathway to American Degrees
The American Center for Education (ACE) provides the students the opportunity to earn an American Degree either in Singapore or in the United States of America (USA). ACE has built partnerships with US universities to enable students in Singapore or abroad to fulfill the dream of getting an American degree possible in a timely manner.
All students at ACE seeking for an American Degree will join the American University Transfer Pathway to start with the American Liberal Education. The American Liberal Education is also named as the American General Education.
A Liberal Education is a system or course of education suitable for the cultivation of a free human being. It is based on the medieval concept of the liberal arts or, more commonly now, the liberalism of the Age of Enlightenment. It has been described as “a philosophy of education that empowers individuals with broad knowledge and transferable skills, and a stronger sense of values, ethics, and civic engagement… characterized by challenging encounters with important issues, and more a way of studying than a specific course or field of study” by the Association of American Colleges and Universities. Usually global and pluralistic in scope, it can include a general education curriculum which provides broad exposure to multiple disciplines and learning strategies in addition to in-depth study in at least one academic area.
The students will spend around 1.5 to 2 years for the valuable Liberal Education study to earn up to 60 university credits including the credits from the Liberal Education and the introduction and lower-level major courses (such as 100 and 200 level courses, around 24 credits) ACE professional faculty will conduct classes in a manner like that found in the USA. Lecturers will give an overview and dive deep into a topic on key concepts and ideas that are needed to have a true understanding. Assignments, discusses, and debates will be used to find weakness in the students’ knowledge and ability to apply the ideas.
American Associate Degrees
The students in the relevant college partnership program will be able to obtain an American Associate Degree after obtaining at least 60 credits from the relevant partner college. With the American Associate Degree, the student can apply to transfer to most of the American Universities to continue the study of year 3 and 4.
Continuous study after the American Liberal Education
Before a student approaches year 3 study in an American university, a planning meeting will be set to discuss the various factors and options to the student. At the meeting we advise both the student and parents on the upcoming various options and factors for what majors to study and which university to transfer to or apply for, the location of universities, and any concerns the family or student may have. While all American universities offer a wide range of majors, it is best to find the respective major suitable to the needs. As for locations being in a major city will allow better access to internships or other social or professional opportunities which would not be found in rural areas of the nation.
American Degrees at Partner Universities
By meeting the minimum academic requirements, the students are guaranteed to directly transfer all their credits (1 to 2 years study) from ACE to ACE’s partner universities to continue their remaining 3 to 2 years study of a selected American Degree. ACE’s partner universities include the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee from the University of Wisconsin System, and the University at Albany from the System of the State University of New York.
American Degrees in the USA
Broward College from the USA offers its courses at the American Center for Education. ACE students in Broward’s program will obtain the transcripts from Broward leading to the relevant Associate Degree. With the transcript and the Associate Degree from Broward College, the students can apply to most of American universities to continue year 3 and 4 study of an American Bachelor’s Degree with the major selected by the student.
American Dual Degrees
The students who are willing to engage intensive studies in total five years (from Singapore and the USA) can obtain the Dual Degrees which means two majors. ACE’s partner universities and many other American Universities offer such Dual Degrees.
American Degrees in Singapore
The students can obtain their American Degrees in certain majors in Singapore without going to the USA. ACE will arrange the relevant degree programs to be offered in Singapore for the students.
With respect to the paths the student may select from above ACE can provide more guidance if the family cannot decide. For transferring to one of our trusted partnered universities ACE has in-depth knowledge about their programs, living areas, and even have contact with the staff who can fill in any other questions. Obtaining a dual major does offer the student a competitive advantage in the marketplace with the proper pairing such as Computer Science with Finance which could start a career in nearly every sector of the economic.
